Position Overview
arenaflex is seeking a talented and passionate Key Data Scientist to join our Attractions Operational Technology group. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development, deployment, and ongoing support of advanced data analytics and machine learning (ML) models that power some of the most beloved attractions in the world. Key Responsibilities
- Build and nurture strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional team members, providing thought leadership and driving initiatives to successful completion with efficiency and precision.
- Engage with research teams and colleagues to help shape ML strategies, identify opportunities where business challenges can be addressed through innovative machine learning solutions, and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Lead and collaborate with a diverse group of engineers and data scientists to implement, scale, and optimize ML solutions that enhance guest experiences and advance operational excellence.
- Drive research and development efforts, including proofs of concept, technology evaluations, and client interactions that contribute to building best-in-class AI platforms within arenaflex.
- Manage the operational support and maintenance of ML-related products and services delivered by the team, ensuring reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop standard methodologies for daily operations and partner with specialty units to design, plan, and execute large-scale projects within the AI and machine learning space.
- Productionize ML algorithms across areas such as predictive analytics, classification, image recognition, natural language processing (NLP), and anomaly detection, rigorously evaluating their performance on real-world datasets.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to achieve goals related to improving system performance, integrating seamlessly with existing software practices that produce effective code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style consistency, and code reviews.
- Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the machine learning ecosystem, and advocate for their adoption when they align with arenaflex's strategic objectives.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python and predictive modeling frameworks such as TensorFlow, SparkMLlib, PySpark, LightGBM, MXNet, or similar tools.
- At least 2+ years of expert-level experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proficiency in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), quality assurance processes, and Object-Oriented Programming design patterns.
- Expert-level experience working with both structured and unstructured data, including images, video, text, and tabular formats, as well as strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL relational and non-relational databases.
- A minimum of 2+ years of experience using Apache Airflow or another data workflow management tool.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub or GitLab, MLOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience leading discovery processes with partners to identify business requirements, define expected outcomes, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the determination to see projects through to completion.
- Solid systems integration and architecture skills, with the ability to translate emerging technologies into practical business solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker for containerization.
- Experience with control systems and industrial automation.
- Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native solutions in GCP or another major cloud platform.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment best practices.
- Experience with data visualization and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Plotly, or Tableau.
- Background or interest in audio analysis and signal processing.
- Experience with text analytics and natural language processing techniques.
Education Requirements
- Required: Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Preferred: Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field, with a focus on machine learning or artificial intelligence.
