Key Responsibilities

Design, conduct, and optimize complex experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and related biotechnology fields. Develop and validate new assays and experimental protocols to support research objectives. Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions regarding experimental direction. Lead research projects from conception through to completion, managing timelines and resources effectively. Contribute to the preparation of research reports, manuscripts for publication, and patent applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including bioinformaticians, medicinal chemists, and clinical scientists. Present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences. Mentor junior research staff and contribute to a positive and productive laboratory environment. Stay current with the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in biotechnology. Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience, with a strong publication record. Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, flow cytometry, gene editing). Proven ability to independently design, execute, and interpret complex experiments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting scientific data. Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases is a significant advantage. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment. Familiarity with the biotech landscape in San Francisco, California is beneficial. Commitment to scientific rigor and ethical research practices.
