About the position This position will function as a member of the Individual Placement and Support Supported Employment (IPS-SE) program within the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. IPS-SE is a community-based service which aims to assist individuals with serious mental illness to find and maintain competitive employment in the community, an essential component of individuals’ recovery. The IPS-SE program works closely with behavioral health service providers and the department of Employment and Independence for Persons with Disabilities (EIPD, formerly Vocational Rehabilitation).

Responsibilities

  • Engagement – Providing information about employment and employment supports to encourage individuals to consider pursuing their vocational goals
  • Assessment – Gathering information about individuals’ employment and educational histories, goals, and preferences to create a person-centered employment plan
  • Job Development – Connecting and developing warm relationships with potential employers in the community to better understand their hiring needs and create opportunities for IPS-SE participants
  • Job Search – Assisting individuals in exploring employment opportunities that match their preferences and goals
  • Follow-Along Supports – Providing ongoing support to individuals after securing employment to promote success on the job and continue to make progress toward their personal goals.
  • Participate in IPS-SE team activities including weekly team meetings, treatment team meetings with behavioral health partners, and regular meetings with EIPD.
  • Responsible for timely completion of required service documentation.
  • May assist in outcomes tracking and reporting for the program.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to travel within the local community.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Experience in vocational rehabilitation or employment services.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
