[Remote] Program Manager, EpiC and STRIDES
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. FHI 360 is a global health and development organization, and they are seeking a Program Manager to oversee a portfolio of countries implementing the STRIDES and EpiC projects. The role involves managing project activities, ensuring compliance, and leading project start-up, workplan and budget development, while liaising with in-country teams and other departments.
Responsibilities
- Manages and oversees the development of projects from initiation to completion
- Manages capacity building project staff in coordinating and managing the implementation of project activities, delivering quality and accountability
- Develops and delivers a project management plan encompassing all the details of a project to the team members
- Provides guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities, and encouraging effective teamwork
- Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals and strategic vision of management
- Develops and delivers project workplans, documentation, training, presentations and budget proposals to management and staff
- Identifies and resolves project issues and implements improvement plans to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget
- Evaluates the progress of the project on a regular basis
- Builds, develops, and grows partnerships vital to the success of the project
- Manages the operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in a matrix environment. Oversees country workplans with focus on minimizing risk across multiple projects, monitors budgets, and scope to ensure successful execution of project(s) deliverables and completion of project(s)
- Manages the development of project teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; also, to develop and implement process improvement plans
- Identifies partnerships, opportunities, and information to present to management to help achieve strategic goals of the company
- Keeps abreast of the latest strategies, tools and terminologies used in project management worldwide to adopt and increase productivity
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Establishes a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
- Determines the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project. Develops a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
- Builds and implements the best practices for performing all tasks
- Reviews the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
- Determines the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
- Executes the project according to the project plan
- Authors reports on the project for management and for funders. Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements. Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management
- Monitors and approves all budgeted project expenditures
- Monitors cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)
- Manages all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
- Ensures that all financial records for the project are up to date
- Prepares financial reports and supporting documentation for funders as outlined in funding agreement
- Coaches, mentors, and manages project team to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance with project and company standards/policies
- Provides guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities, and encouraging effective teamwork
- Manages the development of project teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; also, to develop and implement process improvement plans
- Develops tools and techniques for delegating tasks according to the skills of every team member and also to evaluate the performance of all team members
- Ensures that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Health, Nutrition, International Development, Social Science or a Related Field
- 8+ years of relevant experience with project management principles and practices
- 2+ years of line management experience
- Experience supervising senior level staff
- Professional proficiency in Spanish
- Masters preferred
- Project Management (PM) Certification preferred
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization
- Prior experience starting up new programs internationally preferred
- Previous experience working on global health projects including USG and PEPFAR supported programs preferred
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- International or domestic (US) program development or project management preferred
