About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global leader in the retail pharmacy and health‑care space, operating thousands of stores across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With a heritage that spans more than a century, arenaflex is dedicated to improving the health and well‑being of the communities it serves. By blending a deep commitment to customer service with cutting‑edge technology, arenaflex delivers an omnichannel experience that seamlessly integrates physical locations, digital platforms, and innovative health solutions. Our mission is to create happier, healthier lives through better health, and we achieve that by empowering our employees to innovate, collaborate, and grow.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our data‑driven transformation. You will harness sophisticated data science, predictive analytics, and machine‑learning techniques to turn massive data sets into actionable insights that shape strategic decisions, optimize operations, and drive new product initiatives. This is a remote‑first position, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere while still collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams across finance, research, engineering, and business leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine‑learning models using statistical modeling, probability theory, and other quantitative methods.
  • Extract business value from large‑scale data by creating robust analytical solutions that address complex business problems.
  • Apply rigorous statistical techniques—including predictive modeling, customer segmentation, survey design, and data mining—to uncover trends and opportunities.
  • Program in Python, PySpark, and leverage libraries such as Matplotlib, TensorFlow, and PyTorch to build scalable data pipelines and model training workflows.
  • Implement both supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms (e.g., decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K‑means, anomaly detection) to deliver prescriptive recommendations.
  • Utilize cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks) and query engines (Snowflake) to manage data storage, processing, and model serving.
  • Adopt modern software development practices—GitHub version control, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies—to ensure reproducibility and rapid iteration.
  • Partner with finance, research, engineering, and business stakeholders to define product requirements, translate technical concepts, and deliver data‑driven insights.
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, crafting compelling narratives that influence strategic direction.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the analytics team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM field. An M.S. or higher is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience with large‑scale data sets, building and optimizing machine‑learning, predictive, forecasting, or optimization models.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark (or comparable languages). Demonstrated ability in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, pattern detection, and data visualization.
  • Modeling Expertise: Proven track record using decision trees, classification algorithms, linear & logistic regression, time‑series modeling, generalized linear models, SVMs, and unsupervised techniques such as K‑means, hierarchical clustering, and PCA.
  • Cloud & MLOps: Experience with cloud‑based ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data warehouses, and model serving architectures.
  • Experimentation: Ability to design, execute, and analyze A/B tests to validate model impact and drive data‑informed product decisions.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
  • Leadership: At least 2 years of experience leading or influencing cross‑functional teams, managing projects, and delivering results in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10 % of the time for on‑site business engagements, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or Data Science.
  • Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) data streams and Edge AI deployments.
  • Background in Reinforcement Learning and its application to real‑world business problems.
  • Domain knowledge in health‑care or pharmacy operations, providing context for industry‑specific analytics.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to think critically, ask the right questions, and uncover hidden patterns in complex data.
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative approach to designing solutions that balance accuracy, interpretability, and scalability.
  • Collaboration: Proven teamwork skills, comfortable working with diverse stakeholders ranging from engineers to senior business leaders.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment, quickly pivoting priorities while maintaining focus on high‑impact outcomes.
  • Ethical Judgment: Commitment to responsible AI practices, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
