[Remote] Aircraft Ground Equipment Support

They are seeking a Part Time On Call Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to provide logistics support for multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion engines, hydraulic cylinders, fuel pumps, fuel/hydraulic lines, voltage regulators and generators used in aviation ground support equipment
  • Work involves replacing worn or broken parts such as motors, bearings, or other engine parts; adjusting valves; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems
  • Maintenance support including operations of powered and non-powered units, system troubleshooting, engineering, analysis, maintenance and repair of commercial and military aviation ground support systems and subsystems to the component level
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical power support systems by verifying proper fuel, lubricants and coolant levels. Effectively applies industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to localize and isolate faulty system components
  • Maintains and prepares records and documentation to ensure accurate and timely data processing
  • 100% travel to worksites in various locations, United States, Europe and Pacific Region
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills

  • 3+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field (OR) 7+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a trade school certification or associate degree in a related field (OR) 9+ years of qualified mechanical experience
  • Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, ground power units, aircraft tugs, air conditioning and heater units, cargo loaders, de-icing vehicles, runway sweepers, light carts, fuel and defuel equipment
  • Experience with maintenance support to include operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level
  • Experience with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters; experience applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components
  • Willingness to travel to mission locations within the United States, Europe and Pacific region on an as needed basis and work 40+ hours on missions that will vary in length
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License for the location in which the work will be performed, ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening and have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position
  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach
  • Must be able to work in high noise areas
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts
  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard
  • Familiarity with commercial and military aviation ground support equipment
