[Remote] Accounting & Internal Controls Manager

Connexa Search Group is a growing organization seeking an Accounting & Internal Controls Manager to lead key areas of financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and audit support. The role involves overseeing accounting close and reporting activities, managing a small accounting team, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support key monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze financial results, research variances, and communicate findings to leadership
  • Manage and develop a small accounting team
  • Support complex accounting areas, including estimates, valuations, technical accounting matters, and financial reporting analysis
  • Lead internal control documentation, risk assessment, control mapping, and ongoing control evaluation
  • Identify control gaps, recommend improvements, and help implement remediation plans
  • Coordinate SOC 1 audit activities, including working with internal process owners and external audit teams
  • Partner with external auditors on financial statement audit requests and related reporting matters
  • Monitor relevant accounting guidance and assess the impact of new or changing standards
  • Support system enhancements, automation projects, and process improvement initiatives
  • Help strengthen the overall accounting, reporting, and control environment as the business continues to scale

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • CPA required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit requirements
  • Experience with internal controls over financial reporting, control testing, process documentation, or SOC 1/SOX-related environments
  • Ability to work through complex accounting areas and communicate findings clearly
  • Prior people management or team leadership experience preferred
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
