[Remote] Electrical Design Engineer- HAWAII

They are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to design building electrical systems, particularly for healthcare projects, while providing opportunities for professional growth and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical system designs in accordance with project scope, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards
  • Provide engineering planning, design, and construction administration services for: Power distribution systems, Lighting and lighting control systems, Fire alarm systems, Nurse Call systems, Other low voltage systems
  • Perform existing building surveys and document current electrical and fire alarm conditions
  • Prepare, edit, and coordinate electrical specifications and construction documents
  • Author engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents
  • Coordinate closely with internal project teams, architects, and other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in and lead technical discussions, design coordination meetings, and client presentations
  • Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination as needed
  • Assist Project Managers with technical input, schedule coordination, and project execution

Skills

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering calculations, including: Lighting photometric calculations, Voltage drop analysis, Short‑circuit and overcurrent protection coordination studies, Load Calculations
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • High level of attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Excellent work ethic with a proactive, solution‑oriented attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Comfortable engaging with clients and presenting technical information in a clear and professional manner
  • Experience with healthcare, science and technology, education, and/or commercial buildings is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with HCAI / OSHPD standards is a plus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience preferred
