As a Remote Big Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of that advantage. You’ll design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that power critical business insights, fraud detection, personalized recommendations, and operational efficiency for a fast‑growing portfolio of financial products.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Data Pipeline Development: Architect, implement, and optimize scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Hadoop, Hive, Spark, PySpark, and related technologies.
  • Collaborative Software Engineering: Work closely with senior architects and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality code, adhering to best‑in‑class development practices, automated testing, and continuous integration.

  • Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Identify bottlenecks, debug complex data processing jobs, and implement performance enhancements to meet stringent SLAs.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines (GitHub/Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to streamline testing, staging, and production releases.
  • Data Modeling & Warehouse Design: Design robust data models, develop efficient Hive/SQL queries, and ensure data integrity across large‑scale data warehouses.
  • Cloud Integration: Leverage GCP or AWS services to extend on‑premise capabilities, implement micro‑services, and support hybrid cloud strategies.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Lead a small team of engineers, provide technical guidance, and foster an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear technical documentation, design specifications, and share insights through internal wikis and brown‑bag sessions.
  • Strategic Innovation: Identify emerging technologies and propose proof‑of‑concepts that could drive future product differentiation for arenaflex.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in big data development, with a proven track record of delivering production‑grade pipelines.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (HBase, Couchbase, MongoDB) and their integration into big data workflows.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools and practices, including automated testing frameworks and pipeline orchestration.
  • Understanding of financial services data domains (transactions, fraud detection, risk analytics) and regulatory compliance considerations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
