[Remote] Design Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Akkodis is seeking a Design Engineer focused on Data Center infrastructure for a remote W2 contract position. In this role, you will lead the design of advanced Data Center solutions primarily using Cisco Nexus platforms, while also incorporating wireless technologies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of Data Center infrastructure solutions based primarily on Cisco Nexus platforms for complex enterprise environments
• Apply Data Center expertise so that approximately 90% of your work is Data Center focused and approximately 10% involves wireless and related technologies
• Develop high-level and detailed network designs incorporating Cisco, Arista, and Arista CDC technologies to meet specific client requirements
• Use BGP expertise to design scalable, resilient routing architectures within the Data Center and associated network domains
• Produce design documentation, diagrams, and standards while collaborating closely with stakeholders using excellent oral and written communication skills
• Create design solutions that can leverage Python and, where appropriate, Ansible to support automation and operational efficiency

Skills

• 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar Design Engineer role working with complex Data Center infrastructure
• Cisco CCIE Data Center certification (or equivalent experience) with expert-level knowledge of data center architectures, best practices, and the ability to lead advanced network and data center design discussions
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus platforms and broader Cisco technologies used in enterprise Data Center environments
• Strong Arista and Arista CDC experience, enabling you to design and support multi-vendor Data Center network solutions
• BGP expertise applied in complex, large-scale Data Center networks requiring robust routing and high availability
• Proficiency with Python for network-related tasks, with Ansible experience being considered as an additional relevant capability
• Excellent oral and written skills to document designs clearly and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable focusing on design work; Linux and similar system administration skills are not needed for this role
