Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Datum Technologies Group is seeking a highly skilled Solid Edge CAD Expert to enhance their CAD rework and design methodology. The role involves analyzing existing CAD data for inefficiencies, implementing optimized modeling strategies, and collaborating with engineering teams to align CAD structures with BOM strategies.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing CAD models to identify inefficiencies, incorrect practices, and structural issues
- Define and execute CAD rework strategies aligned with Solid Edge best practices
- Perform hands-on CAD restructuring and present improvements through “show & tell” demonstrations
- Build scalable models using: Variables Table & equation-driven modeling, Inter-part relationships, Synchronous and Ordered modeling approaches
- Develop Family of Parts / Family of Assemblies for configurable product designs
- Support 150% design methodology enabling multiple product variants within a single structure
- Optimize CAD models for downstream integration with Teamcenter
- Define and enforce CAD standards and modeling guidelines
- Collaborate with engineering and PLM teams to align CAD structure with BOM strategy
Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Solid Edge CAD
- Strong expertise in: Variables Table & parametric design, Family of Assemblies, Top-down design methodology, Design intent-driven modeling
- Proven experience in CAD rework, optimization, and legacy data conversion
- Ability to differentiate between quick fixes and robust engineering-grade modeling
- Ability to take flawed CAD data and rework it into optimized structures
- Translate CAD best practices into real working models
- Conduct live demonstration sessions showing before/after improvements
- Act as a mentor and drive adoption of best CAD practices
- Strong technical storytelling and problem-solving ability

- Understanding of CAD-to-PLM integration (Solid Edge ↔ Teamcenter)
- Knowledge of 150% EBOM / DBOM structures and transformation to 100% EBOM
- Exposure to Teamcenter Product Configurator and rule-based variant design
- Understanding of how CAD intent maps to BOM and product configuration
- Familiarity with Structure Manager, revision/release, and change management (ECR/ECO)
- Ability to ensure CAD models are PLM-ready and reusable
- Experience in configurable product environments
- Exposure to PLM-driven design processes
- Knowledge of CAD automation, rules-based design, or customization
- Experience defining CAD governance and standards
