Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual & Simulation Testing to spearhead the development of high‑fidelity virtual platforms that emulate real‑world operations. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product engineers, manual QA teams, and internal stakeholders—including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and more—to ensure that every new solution meets rigorous quality, reliability, and performance standards before it reaches the fulfillment floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive simulation and Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) environments that use actual automation software to validate end‑to‑end solutions.
• Validate product specifications for quality, functionality, reliability, maintenance, training, deployment, and integration with material handling equipment (MHE) through virtual testing.
• Establish and communicate quality standards and parameters across hardware, software, controls, and materials development teams.
• Coordinate simulation campaigns, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps, release schedules, and cross‑functional testing plans.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve bugs, defects, and recurring issues across multiple product lines, recommending systematic solutions.
• Engage with internal customers (Operations, RME, ACES, Process Engineering, Ops Engineering, WW Design, etc.) to gather feedback, understand operational constraints, and incorporate real‑world insights into virtual test scenarios.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations, policies, and safety standards throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Support manual QA teams by providing validated virtual models, enabling rapid design‑of‑experiment (DOE) studies and accelerating decision‑making.
• Develop test automation within HIL environments using test executors and automation engines that interact with real automation software.
• Document and present simulation results, risk assessments, and quality metrics to senior leadership and cross‑functional partners.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience working with large, cross‑functional engineering teams on modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance.
• Hands‑on experience with fulfillment systems, including storage equipment, material handling systems, automated sortation, and related automation hardware.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize competing initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of diagnosing complex system interactions.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time to business locations, project sites, and customer facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, high‑speed packaging technologies, robotics, and high‑throughput manufacturing environments.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to diverse audiences, including operations staff, senior engineers, and executive leadership.
• Project management expertise, with a history of initiating, planning, and delivering projects on schedule and within scope.
• Familiarity with Design‑of‑Experiment (DOE) methodologies, statistical analysis tools, and data‑driven decision frameworks.

• Simulation Platforms: Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Gazebo, or equivalent for creating high‑fidelity virtual environments.
• HIL Testing: Experience building and executing Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop test rigs that integrate real control software with simulated hardware.
• Systems Integration: Ability to understand and model interactions between mechanical, electrical, software, and material components.
• Automation Scripting: Competence in Python, C++, or similar languages for test automation and data collection.
• Quality Frameworks: Familiarity with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar quality management systems.
