Position Overview

We are hiring a Remote Bookkeeping Software Customer Support Specialist to provide high-quality assistance to callers using accounting software. This is an independent contractor opportunity that allows you to work from the comfort of your home while applying your bookkeeping expertise in a customer-facing role. If you have a strong foundation in accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, reconciliation, and general ledger management — and you love explaining processes in a clear, friendly way — this role is built for you.

As a Customer Support Specialist on this program, you will handle inbound calls from business owners, accountants, and bookkeepers who have questions about software navigation, transaction entries, reporting, troubleshooting, and best practices. You will be the trusted voice that helps customers solve problems efficiently while also identifying opportunities to recommend relevant products that enhance their workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer support via phone to users of accounting and bookkeeping software.
  • Assist customers with navigating software features, entering transactions, managing ledgers, and reconciling accounts.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to software functionality, data entry errors, and account settings.
  • Explain accounting concepts such as journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and chart of accounts in accessible language.
  • Maintain ownership of each customer interaction, taking control of the conversation and driving toward confident resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell relevant products and features that align with customer needs.
  • Document customer interactions accurately and follow established procedures for case management.
  • Stay up to date on software updates, new features, and best practices in bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Consistently meet performance expectations for quality, customer satisfaction, and call handling.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting software platform.
  • Solid understanding of core bookkeeping functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prior customer service experience, ideally in a phone-based, virtual, or call center environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly, professional, and empathetic tone.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and confidence in taking ownership of customer issues.
  • Comfort with cross-selling relevant products and services while addressing customer concerns.
  • Tech-savvy mindset with strong computer navigation skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.

Compensation and Earnings Potential

As an independent contractor with arenaflex, your earnings are tied directly to the time you invest. The pay range for this program is $15.30 to $20.40 per hour, depending on your experience and performance. Contractors who make themselves available for a full 60 minutes are guaranteed a minimum of 45 minutes of pay, providing a stable earnings floor during scheduled hours. Your earning potential grows as you build expertise, receive positive customer feedback, and expand your availability.

Work Schedule and Flexibility

One of the standout benefits of contracting with arenaflex is the flexibility to design your own schedule. You choose when you work, giving you the freedom to balance professional commitments with personal priorities. For this particular program, available hours fall between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday. Whether you prefer morning shifts, afternoon blocks, or a combination of both, you have the autonomy to craft a routine that fits your life.

  • Personal computer (desktop or laptop) — tablets are not permitted.
  • Broadband internet connection with at least 10 Mbps download speed.
  • Wired internet connection (Wi-Fi and mobile internet are not supported).
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system.
  • Valid, up-to-date antivirus software installed and running.
  • Wired USB headset with microphone.
  • Mac users: Only Intel-based Macs running Windows 11 via Apple’s Boot Camp utility are supported.
  • No VPN use during working hours (e.g., NordVPN, McAfee VPN, etc.).

Eligibility and Important Information

  • You must live and work from the United States, excluding California, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
  • You must successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • This is a contract independent contractor position — not a W-2 employee role.
  • arenaflex will not withhold taxes from your earnings; you are responsible for managing your own tax obligations.
  • As an independent contractor, you will not be eligible for vacation pay, sick leave, retirement benefits, Social Security, worker’s compensation, health or disability benefits, overtime, unemployment insurance, or traditional employee benefits.
