About arenaflex – Pioneering Entertainment at Scale

arenaflex is a global leader in streaming entertainment, delivering a diverse library of TV series, movies, documentaries, and interactive experiences to hundreds of millions of members across more than 190 countries. With a relentless focus on storytelling, technology, and member satisfaction, arenaflex has built a platform that lets users watch, pause, and resume content anytime, anywhere, and switch plans with ease. Our mission is to bring joy to every household by offering personalized, high‑quality entertainment experiences that adapt to each member’s unique preferences.

Why This Role Matters

Customer Service is the front line of arenaflex’s relationship with its members. Every interaction—whether via phone, chat, or emerging channels—provides invaluable insight into how our product performs in the real world. The Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team translates those insights into actionable metrics, enabling the organization to continuously refine the member experience, reduce friction, and drive loyalty. As a Senior Data Engineer on the Customer Service Analytics squad, you will be the architect of the data pipelines that power these insights, turning raw interaction logs into reliable, business‑critical metrics that inform product decisions, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.

Role Overview

In this highly autonomous position, you will collaborate closely with fellow data engineers, software engineers, product analysts, and business owners to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest, process, and surface customer service data at scale. You will be responsible for the end‑to‑end data lifecycle—from raw event capture to polished dashboards—ensuring data quality, performance, and accessibility for stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines: Build and maintain production‑grade pipelines using big‑data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink to process tens of millions of records daily.
  • Data modeling and schema evolution: Create flexible data models that can adapt to evolving source systems and new business requirements without disrupting downstream analytics.
  • Code quality and maintainability: Write clean, well‑documented Python or Scala code, enforce coding standards, and contribute to shared libraries that promote reusability across the DSE organization.
  • SQL mastery and data quality advocacy: Develop complex SQL queries for data validation, anomaly detection, and metric calculation, while championing best practices for data governance.
  • Collaboration and partnership: Work hand‑in‑hand with analysts, product managers, and engineering leads to translate business questions into technical solutions, ensuring that data products meet real‑world needs.
  • Performance optimization: Continuously monitor pipeline health, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to reduce latency and cost.
  • Visualization and insight delivery: Support the creation of custom visualization tools and dashboards that surface key customer service metrics to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Mentorship and knowledge sharing: Guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and lead technical discussions that elevate the overall competency of the data engineering team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines with big‑data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large‑scale datasets (tens of millions of records).
  • Proven expertise in data modeling, with a track record of designing schemas that accommodate changing data sources and business logic.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning, coupled with a commitment to data quality and integrity.
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset: ability to break down ambiguous business problems into concrete data solutions and prioritize work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and fostering productive partnerships across functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with streaming data platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and real‑time analytics.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Background in customer service or contact‑center analytics, understanding key performance indicators like First Contact Resolution, Average Handle Time, and Net Promoter Score.
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for pipeline deployment.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or participation in data‑engineering communities.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of distributed computing, data partitioning, and fault‑tolerant design.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to diagnose complex data issues, propose root‑cause analyses, and implement robust fixes.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments and can influence without authority.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying current with emerging data technologies and industry best practices.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its employees. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship programs with senior leaders in data science, engineering, and product management.
  • Annual learning stipend for conferences, certifications, or advanced coursework.
  • Opportunities to lead high‑impact projects that directly influence the member experience for a global audience.
  • Cross‑team rotations that broaden your expertise across the data stack, from ingestion to visualization.
  • Exposure to cutting‑edge technologies and experimental initiatives that keep arenaflex at the forefront of entertainment innovation.
