American Leadership Academy - Johnston is now accepting applications for a History Teacher (6-12) for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Design and implement engaging and educational lesson plans that cover historical events, themes, and concepts. • Align lesson plans with state and national history standards and curriculum guidelines. • Develop instructional materials, including presentations, worksheets, and multimedia resources. • Deliver history lessons using a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, group work, and hands-on activities. • Use primary and secondary sources, historical documents, and artifacts to enrich the learning experience. • Encourage critical thinking and analysis by prompting students to evaluate historical events and perspectives. • Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects, to measure student understanding and progress. • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments. • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress. • Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning. • Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and promote a productive learning atmosphere. • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying levels of prior knowledge and special educational needs. • Provide additional support and resources to students who may need extra help understanding historical concepts. • Use engaging teaching techniques to make history relevant and interesting to students. • Incorporate current events and contemporary issues to connect historical content with students’ lives. • Encourage student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects. • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with historical scholarship, educational strategies, and teaching technologies. • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the history curriculum. • Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner. • Manage classroom resources and ensure their proper use and maintenance. • Participate in school meetings, committees, and extracurricular activities as needed.
