Reading Interventionist - Remote Tutor
About us Route to Reading is an online tutoring company. We help students catch up in reading. We are a Science of Reading company that focuses on teaching the foundational skills students need to become fluent readers. We specialize in helping students who are significantly below grade level and students with dyslexia. Our current focus is to help students from low-income households that are participating in state-grant programs. Many of our older students have never received quality reading intervention, and their parents are accessing remote tutoring services for the first time. About the Position As a tutor at Route to Reading, you will be responsible for providing remote reading and writing intervention to 4th to 8th-grade students. Your role will involve conducting one-on-one tutoring sessions that are 45 minutes long, with an additional 15 minutes of paid planning. Tutors are paired with a student they work with at least three days a week after school (3 pm to 9 pm EST) or on the weekends. Our current program is running until March 15th, 2024. Work from anywhere in the world. Please note that you will not be considered for this position if you do not answer all of the screener questions. Required: Science of Reading trained. A teaching certification and/or Bachelors Degree Expertise in teaching structured phonics, comprehension, and vocabulary. Experience teaching online or general tech savviness. Two connected computer screens or willingness to set this up. A dedicated and quiet office space to work. A fast and stable internet connection. Must pass a background check. Must have at least 18 hours a week of availability. After school (4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST) or weekend availability. Hiring priority areas: Bilingual tutors (Spanish or French) Tutors with TESOL or similar certification. Tutors with experience using structured phonics programs such as Barton, Really Great Reading, 95% Group, Wilson, and UFLI.
