Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our medical office team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes, along with proficiency in managing medical records. This role is essential for ensuring accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures, which is critical for proper billing and compliance with healthcare regulations. Radiology experience is preferred. Duties • Review and analyze patient medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes. • Assign appropriate ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures based on established guidelines. • Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded data to support billing processes and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed for accurate coding. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and regulations related to medical billing and collections. • Assist in the resolution of any discrepancies or issues related to medical billing or collections. • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coding skills and knowledge of industry changes. Qualifications • Proven experience in medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, medical terminology, and medical billing processes. • Strong understanding of medical records management systems and their application in coding practices. • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with healthcare providers and administrative staff. • Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred but not required; relevant experience will be considered.
