Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments or procedures. , Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and resolve any discrepancies. , Review and interpret ICD-9 codes, medical records, and managed care plans to ensure compliance with insurance requirements. , Maintain accurate records of all verification processes and updates in the office database. , Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted for claims processing. , Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality during the verification process. Requirements Proficient understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-9. , Experience with insurance verification processes, particularly in a medical office setting. , Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. , Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. , Familiarity with managed care systems. , Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards. , Proficient in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
