This role is ideal for a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on a young student’s educational journey. Job Description: We are looking for a fully remote Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpretation services for an elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will work closely with the student, teachers, and other school staff to facilitate effective communication and ensure that the student can fully participate in their educational activities. Responsibilities: • Provide real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, group activities, and individual interactions. • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to understand the student’s needs and curriculum. • Ensure clear and accurate communication between the student and their peers or educators. • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. • Adapt interpretation methods to suit the student’s age and educational level. Requirements: • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID, NIC) or equivalent qualification. • Proven experience interpreting in an educational setting, preferably with elementary students. • Strong understanding of educational terminology and the ability to convey concepts effectively. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. • Reliable internet connection and access to necessary technology for remote interpretation. Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience working with children or in a school environment. • Knowledge of or experience with specialized educational strategies for students with hearing impairments.
