Developer Relations (Community Builder)

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Who are We? We want to change the world, and we’ve already done it once. SpiderOak has been building encrypted software since before the first iPhone was released. SpiderOak is committed to building secure and reliable software that protects our customers’ data. Our approach is fundamentally different from most mainstream security companies. Instead of adding layers of security on top of an insecure system, we build software that is inherently secure. SpiderOak builds need-to-know technology that supports customers working in hostile environments. Traditional systems trust IT infrastructure to maintain the whole security system, even though the news is rife with evidence that this model does not work. Our software combines end to end encryption with a distributed ledger (aka Blockchain) technology to offer best-in-class security with no backdoors. The Developer Relations Lead is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our Developer/user community, serving as a primary liaison between our Developers and various internal departments including Product, Engineering, and Marketing. The Dev Rel Lead is primarily responsible for educating Developers on SpiderOak products and tech through building community, creating content, and improving the developer experience of a product. Duties/Responsibilities: • Develop and execute strategies to increase user engagement across Developer platforms. • Grow our user community through targeted outreach and retention initiatives. • Moderate community discussions and ensure adherence to community guidelines. • Collect and analyze user feedback, translating it into actionable insights for the Product and Marketing teams. • Collaborate with the Product team to incorporate user needs into the product roadmap. • Participate in product planning meetings to represent the user/Developer perspective. • Develop content about our products in collaboration with the marketing and product team. • Contribute to and maintain user documentation, FAQ’s, and knowledge base articles. • Create and curate community-generated content. • Work closely with Customer Support to address user issues and improve support processes, as our team grows. • Collaborate with Marketing on community-driven campaigns and user stories. • Assist the Sales team by providing community/developer insights and user testimonials. • Plan and executive community/developer events, including webinars, user groups, and annual user conferences. • Identify and nurture relationships with key community members and influencers. • Prepare regular reports on community activities and represent the Developer voice in internal meetings and decision-making processes. Required Skills/Abilities: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong organizational and time management abilities. • Strong understanding of our target market. • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • The ability to balance the needs of our users with the strategic goals of the company, driving engagement and loyalty within our user community. Education and Experience: • 5+ years in managing developer communities or working in a Dev Rel role • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Hands on experience with Rust Development. A deep understanding of Rusts benefits, limitations, and use cases in various applications. What We Provide SpiderOak Inc. and Mission Systems is a 100% remote-based working environment.
