About the position As an Associate Director, Surest Benefit Strategist at Surest, a UnitedHealthcare Company, you will play a pivotal role in transforming health benefits to create a more user-friendly and affordable experience for our members. You will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to understanding the needs of both members and employers, and you will leverage your expertise to drive behavior change through our unique actuarial plan design and health-system navigation tools. In this position, you will serve as a market-facing subject matter expert, collaborating closely with sales and account teams. Your primary responsibilities will include educating stakeholders on the advantages of Surest's offerings, providing insights into forecasting the impact of our plans on member and plan spending, and developing recommendations for plan design changes that enhance the performance of our existing offerings. You will also support and enhance the tools and models used in your daily work, ensuring that they are effective and up-to-date. Additionally, you will generate client-specific actuarial outputs, including incurred but not reported (IBNR) calculations and other compliance items, to meet the needs of select clients. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., allowing you to tackle challenging problems while enjoying a supportive work environment. Responsibilities • Serve as a market-facing subject matter expert, partnering with sales and account teams. , • Educate stakeholders on Surest's unique actuarial plan design and tech-enabled health-system navigation. , • Provide insights on forecasting the impact of Surest on member and plan spending. , • Develop and present analytic work using actuarial models to interpret and predict plan performance. , • Develop plan design change recommendations to enhance existing Surest offerings. , • Support, troubleshoot, and enhance tools and models used in day-to-day work, including mid-market modeling and stop loss quoting. , • Generate client-specific actuarial outputs, including IBNR and other compliance items. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline. , • 5+ years of experience in a health benefit financial/pricing role, including oversight of forecasting, benefit pricing, and rate setting. , • Experience as a medical benefit strategic lead on a group of 5,000+ employees, capturing employer priorities and developing innovative strategies. , • Experience analyzing, modeling, and trending benefit data to identify waste and opportunities in benefit programs. , • Familiarity with health plan analytic principles and techniques to interpret plan experience and utilization data. , • Solid understanding of risk management practices within health care and benefit operations. , • Data manipulation and presentation skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. , • Proven record of developing and implementing new benefit strategies, programs, policies, and procedures. , • Proven ability to build relationships externally while collaborating with sales teams. Nice-to-haves • Actuarial Qualifications, ASA or FSA. , • Experience working as a Benefits Consultant for large and jumbo employers. , • Experience working with or for Health Tech companies. , • Proven solid presentation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with HR leaders. , • Proven ability to navigate new situations with efficient problem-solving skills. , • Demonstrated leadership in managing projects and developing resources, including training and guiding others.
