About the position The Pharmacy Benefit Technical Specialist at CDPHP is responsible for implementing and monitoring the technical aspects of pharmacy benefits. This role involves executing medical exception and prior authorization decisions made by pharmacists and managed care pharmacy technicians, as well as providing support through answering calls from a pharmacy phone queue and advising on pharmacy matters. The position also includes additional project work that supports the pharmacy department. Responsibilities • Implement and monitor the technical aspects of pharmacy benefits. , • Execute medical exception and prior authorization decisions made by pharmacists and managed care pharmacy technicians. , • Answer calls from a pharmacy phone queue and provide advice on pharmacy matters from internal and external sources. , • Support additional ad hoc project work for the pharmacy department. Requirements • Associates degree required; 2 years relevant experience may be substituted for degree. , • Minimum 1 year of experience in health care/managed care related field required. , • Minimum 1 year in pharmacy service preferred. , • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required. , • Demonstrated ability to work with system support customers and interface with IT personnel to solve problems. , • Ability to pro-actively identify problems and recommend/implement effective solutions. , • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate workflow. , • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. , • Flexibility to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment. , • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. , • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships internally and externally. , • Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet turnaround time responsibilities.
