The Insurance Specialist is responsible for verifying network status and benefits for new patients and pre-authorizing all scheduled surgeries/procedures. Location: Avon, CO. Classification: full-time, non-exempt position; eligible for benefits. Compensation: $22 - $24/hour DOE Start date: Available now - Applications for this position will be accepted until 30 days from the posting date. If the position is not filled during this time, the application window will be extended. Candidates who are selected to move through the interviewing process will be contacted directly. Key responsibilities • Calls and verifies benefits, eligibility and network status for new patients. • Notifies patient of out of network status with their insurance. • Obtains pre-authorization with insurance company and provide CPT code for determination of authorization. • Must document in-patients’ charts all communication with insurance companies, adjusters and patients. • Provides estimates for patients who are self-pay and collects money. • Obtains signed waivers from patients prior to surgery. Requirements: • Some college education preferred. • Two years’ experience working in customer service, insurance, healthcare. • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 verifications (Internal Classification of Diseases) as well as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, preferred. • Coding experience in Orthopedics, preferred. • Personal characteristics which include flexibility, enthusiasm, effective interpersonal and communication skills. • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize. • Experience with Microsoft Outlook/Office.
