About the position The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking a Law Enforcement Officer to join its team in Baltimore, MD. This position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of the Bank's operations, property, and employees. As a Law Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of duties that include protecting the Bank's assets, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. Your role will require you to operate various technologies, such as x-ray and magnetometer screening equipment, and to maintain a vigilant presence while performing repetitive tasks such as walking, standing, and sitting at assigned posts. You will also be expected to respond to alarms and potentially dangerous situations, providing aid to individuals in distress as necessary. In this highly visible role, your schedule will be flexible, accommodating shifts over a 24-hour period, including days, evenings, and overnight shifts. You will perform recordkeeping and reporting of incidents, control access to the building, and escort individuals as needed. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining required training and certifications, including firearms, CPR, and First Aid. The position may also involve specialized duties such as Executive Protection, Training Coordination, or Explosive Detection Dog handling. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, with preference given to those with some college education or prior law enforcement experience. A working knowledge of law enforcement procedures and automated physical security controls is preferred, along with basic computer skills. Successful candidates will be required to complete basic law enforcement training and maintain their certifications to remain a sworn federal law enforcement officer. Responsibilities • Protect and safeguard Bank operations, property, and employees. , • Escalate issues as appropriate to ensure timely and effective resolution. , • Remain alert and vigilant while performing repetitive duties such as walking, screening, standing and sitting, all while assigned to a post. , • Respond to Bank emergencies, drills, alarms, potentially dangerous situations and other circumstances. , • Perform recordkeeping and reporting of moderately complex crimes, complaints, accidents, investigations, and follow-ups. , • Control vehicle and pedestrian access to building; receive the public, determines nature of business, and directs persons to appropriate destination. , • Escort individuals throughout the building when needed; examines packages coming into building; ensures all persons in Bank are properly displaying appropriate access badges. , • Perform both vehicle and walking patrols to prevent crimes and enforce laws and ordinances. , • Operate various technologies such as, but not limited to, x-ray and magnetometer screening equipment. , • Maintain required training and certifications, including firearms, CPR, and First Aid. Maintain working knowledge of department policies and procedures. , • Perform other duties as assigned: Executive Protection Unit (EPU), Training Coordination, or Field Training Officer (FTO), or Explosive Detection Dog (EDD). Requirements • Must possess a high school diploma or GED. , • Prefer some college courses or graduation from an accredited college or university. , • Prior law enforcement experience preferred. , • Working knowledge of Law Enforcement procedures and operations is preferred. , • Knowledge of various automated physical security controls is preferred. , • Knowledge of life-saving techniques such as first aid, CPR, AED; certification in standard first aid, CPR, and AED preferred. , • Attend and successfully complete basic law enforcement training and maintain certifications to remain a sworn federal law enforcement officer. , • Familiarity with the use of various firearms; must maintain firearms qualifications. , • Must have basic computer skills.
