About the position The purpose of this position is to lead and participate in the support of a variety of communication and marketing programs. This includes coordinating, designing and developing brochures, flyers, website and social media content updates, e-mail marketing and other traditional and emerging forms of promotion. Produce photography/graphic design to support written material. Assist with special events and other public communication duties as assigned. Responsibilities • Edit and produce internal and external newsletters, brochures, posters and other printed and electronic material from conception to finished product including design layout, writing content, taking photographs, shooting video, and creating graphics. , • Write and edit news releases, opinion pieces, speeches, training presentations, and a variety of other written communications. , • Write and edit content for the City of Lubbock Utilities social media sites and monitor Lubbock Power & Light social media sites. , • Produce content for the City of Lubbock's Utilities and Lubbock Power & Light internal and external websites. , • Analyze statistical data from a variety of communication tools, including City of Lubbock's Utilities and Lubbock Power & Light social media sites. , • Assist utility departments with communication and media relation strategies and serve as an advertising and marketing resource. , • Shoot still photographs of events and individuals or groups, either in studio or on location. , • Serve as public information contact for the media when the department manager is unavailable. , • Assist City of Lubbock's Utilities and Lubbock Power & Light in crisis management, including communicating to the media and public during emergencies. , • Oversee projects and daily duties of the Graphic Designer. , • Help develop departmental policies and protocols. , • Able to assist citizens on an as-needed basis. , • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements • Completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field. , • Four to six years of experience in strategic marketing or communication management or any combination of relevant education and experience. Nice-to-haves • Valid Current Driver's License , • Knowledge of marketing techniques and principles. , • Knowledge of social media trends, digital communications and public relations campaigns or branding. , • Knowledge of graphic design and advertising. , • Knowledge of photography and/or video production.
