Walrus is the leader in B2B payment verification, with clients that include some of the biggest names in investment management. Our DoubleCheck platform combines advanced authentication, proprietary technology, AI, and novel UX to collect and confirm payment details. DoubleCheck has defined a new category: verifying the safe transfer of financial information and assets. Walrus is led by PhD computer scientists and security researchers, with decades of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, and cryptography, and many research accomplishments at Harvard, Stanford, MIT, the University of Chicago, Columbia, UTexas, and NYU. We’re backed by one of the world's leading fintech VC funds, as well as founders and executives of Twitter, Google Maps, Databricks, and Kayak. The role Due to strong year-over-year growth, we are looking for an HR professional with strong talent acquisition skills to help build the foundation of our People Operations department. This role reports directly to our Director of Operations, who has overseen all HR functions thus far. You will have the chance to influence and impact company culture at the ground level as we continue growing in 2025 and beyond. This role has a primary focus on talent acquisition, with some elements of compensation, benefits, and HR administration. We expect some aspects of the role to include:

  • Talent Acquisition:
  • Manage the full recruitment process for open positions, including job posting, resume screening, candidate interview coordination, and offer management. Positions will include both individual contributor and management roles, across sales, engineering, product management, and operations.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand hiring needs and provide guidance on job descriptions and sourcing strategies.
  • Create and implement effective sourcing strategies to identify and attract top-tier candidates across various job functions. This includes managing relationships with contracted recruiters and firms.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
  • Compensation, Benefits, and HR Administration:
  • Assist in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with the annual open enrollment process, ensuring employees have the necessary information and support.
  • Organize company on-sites and events.
  • Support the team with various administrative tasks, such as updating scheduling team meetings, booking rooms, and office management as needed.
  • Ensure HR practices and policies are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

About you Ideally, you have:

  • 2+ years of experience in in-house talent acquisition
  • 1+ year of experience in an HR generalist, HR administrative, or people operations function
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with integrity.
  • Experience with managing applicant tracking systems (such as Ashby)

Previous experience in a fast-paced, growing company is a bonus, but by no means a requirement. What it’s like to work with us We’re a tight-knit, early-stage team that’s focused on building a product that our customers love. We have a strong company culture based on collaboration, ownership, and mentoring. We meet sparingly and efficiently. We understand our innate biases and celebrate diversity. We have a low-ego workplace, where we provide the tools for everyone to do their best work. You will work closely with the leadership team, and have room for extensive growth within the company.

  • Walrus offers competitive compensation and benefits, including salary, equity, paid medical insurance, dental, vision, company contribution to wellness, good coverage for dependents, parental leave, retirement, relocation assistance, and unlimited PTO.
