Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Ecommerce Business Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of our rapidly growing ecommerce company. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in multi-state sales tax compliance, financial reporting, and ecommerce platform integrations (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, etc.).Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting functions including A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and general ledger entries
• Manage monthly and quarterly financial closings and assist with year-end reporting
• Handle sales tax nexus determination and compliance across multiple U.S. states
• Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns accurately and on time
• Monitor changing state tax laws and ensure company compliance
• Integrate and reconcile data from ecommerce platforms, payment processors, and inventory systems
• Prepare internal financial reports and analysis to support decision-making
• Collaborate with external tax consultants, auditors, and state tax authorities
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Develop and implement improved accounting workflows and automation tools
• Compliance tasks such as annual reports, business licenses, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in ecommerce or retail
• Proven knowledge of multi-state sales tax filing and nexus rules
• Experience with ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon FBA, BigCommerce) and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Avalara)
• Strong understanding of inventory, COGS, and revenue recognition in an ecommerce context
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex financial issues clearly
