Resp & Qualifications PURPOSE... The Privacy Specialist will assist Privacy Management with the development, implementation, and ongoing management of CareFirst's privacy program. The Privacy Specialist will interact with all levels of the organization and function as an integral team member in advancing the overall security, privacy and compliance program with respect to privacy-related policies, procedures, operational workflows, laws and regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Performs administrative work associated with protected health information requests. • Collaboration with legal counsel and management, key departments, and committees to ensure organization has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms, and information notices and materials reflecting current organization and legal practices and requirements. • Implement privacy & compliance procedures providing oral and written responses to privacy questions based on privacy regulations. Provides guidance with regards to privacy procedures and handling of protected health information. • QUALIFICATIONS: Education Level: Associate Degree Preferred Qualifications Experience with HIPAA and/or highly sensitive legislative and/or congressional issues management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) • Excellent writing, grammatical and editing skills required. • Excellent oral communication skills. • Strong customer service orientation, Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging. • Salary Range: $49,896 - $91,476 Salary Range Disclaimer The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the work is being performed. This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
