About the position The Teen Arts Council Member position at the Detroit Institute of Arts involves collaborating with peers and museum professionals to create impactful programs for teens in the metro Detroit area. This part-time, temporary role requires active participation in planning meetings and events, serving as an ambassador for the museum's initiatives, and providing authentic input in program design. Responsibilities • Participate in all Teen Council planning meetings, events, and activities as a collaborative and creative team member. , • Attend an average of 8-15 hours of after school meetings per month for planning and reflecting on events & programs. , • Work as an ambassador for DIA events and programs in schools and communities. , • Represent metro Detroit teens through authentic input in DIA teen program design and implementation. Requirements • Must be entering 10th or 11th grade during the school year of hire. , • Resident of the museum's Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne County service area. , • Demonstrated collaboration skills to work across departments and divisions. , • Ability to speak publicly and present information effectively. , • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate results. , • Skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines. , • Proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365. , • Ability to establish and maintain professional interactions. Nice-to-haves • Knowledge or interest in the arts and humanities. , • Ability to identify challenges and opportunities and engage others in their resolution.
