Job Summary of FedEx Freight Associate: Your role as a FedEx Freight Associate will involve the responsible movement of freight in and around the facility. This includes the loading and unloading of shipments, as well as accurately sorting them for further transportation. The effective execution of your tasks is critical to upholding the integrity of logistics operations and ensuring timely delivery of goods. Responsibilities of FedEx Freight Associate: • Move freight with the use of proper motor-driven and hand-operated equipment, such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts. • Ensure that the details mentioned in the freight documents, including its type, weight, and hazardous materials, match with the available electronic or manual records. • Make use of adequate tools and equipment like ropes, pallets, and straps to keep the cargo safe while it is being transported. • In case of damaged goods, it is essential to recover or mend them as soon as possible. • To ensure smooth processing of your request, it is essential to provide complete and accurate documentation and report in collaboration with the requirements. • Give aid to customers with freight and the necessary documentation required for its transport. • Be prepared to carry out hostling tasks if needed. • Ensure that you are in compliance with company protocol as well as any applicable laws and regulations. • Carry out any other tasks necessary. Qualification of FedEx Freight Associate: • Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred. • If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred. • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. • Basic written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more. • Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift. • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member. • Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. • Must be at least 18 years of age. Working Condition of FedEx Freight Associate: • The dock environment comes with its own set of challenges such as weather fluctuations, the constant stream of exhaust fumes, dust, and excessive noise. • The operating necessities may cause variations in working hours. • Regular engagement with personnel at the service center; fast-moving, time-sensitive.
