Trading Operations Analyst

We're looking for a Trading Operations Analyst to join BestEx Research Securities operations. We are targeting a highly motivated professional seeking an opportunity to develop and grow their career with a fast-growing, innovative, multi-asset algorithm firm. This candidate should be equally proficient working in a team environment or as an individual contributor and goal driven with team success as a priority.

The ideal candidate would have experience in equity market settlement operations, covering all aspects of post trade processing. This includes, but is not limited to, trade matching and allocations to ensure all trades are settled within the T+1 industry settlement cycle. This incumbent will be working alongside other Trading Operations Analysts to ensure all activity is processed and cleared in a timely manner.

They must be extremely thorough, detail-oriented, organized, and must possess excellent client service and communication skills and be able to communicate in a confident manner to effectively manage internal/external client expectations.

Requirements

  • To ensure timely and accurate settlement of our client’s trades across our Equity transactions.
  • Troubleshoot any trade discrepancies and perform root cause analysis of ongoing issues or identified trends presenting, where possible, solutions to the issue(s) with a focus on gaining efficiencies within our current workflows.
  • Act as a risk agent by proactively chasing down open, unmatched, or failing trades, mitigating potential risks and escalating appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • Accurate account set up, configuration, and continuous maintenance of our client set-up ensure all static data is referenced correctly via our CRM, as well as with our clearing counterparties.
  • Identify and resolve operational workflow issues; liaise with internal/external departments and clients, where appropriate, to resolve outstanding issues, ensuring escalation to immediate manager where necessary
  • Strong understanding and experience in the processing and handling of exceptions via the electronic confirmation platforms DTCC, CTM. An understanding of ALERT, FIX, and Traina is also advantageous.
  • Provide white-glove, tailored client servicing to our external and internal clients/stakeholders.
  • Own the delivery of selected small change projects e.g. cross training.
  • Actively participate in meetings/calls.
  • Respond to client and broker inquiries (email, phone) as a single point of contact to ensure timely settlement processing, including investigating & resolving of trade-related breaks in accordance with our established time frames and procedures. Essential

  • Comfortable with working during US (AMER) market hours of operations

  • Ability to work closely within a small team or independently, assimilate information, make prompt decisions and share results with colleagues.

  • Must be a team player and able to work independently, when required.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Show initiative and creative approach to issues. Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, STEM or a related field
  • 2+ years of Operations, Settlements Back-office experience is required.
  • Must be organized, critical thinking, detail oriented, self-motivated and deadline oriented.
  • Proficient in SQL and Microsoft office suite: Excel
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
