Description About Downtown Dog Lounge Downtown Dog Lounge is Seattle’s premier dog boarding and daycare center with two locations in South Lake Union, and Ballard. Position Overview & Purpose The Bookkeeper ensures all accounting and financial practices are managed with precision and supports the financial stability of the business. This position is remote; however, the candidate must reside in Seattle or the surrounding area. This role demands excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage the daily financial operations of the facility. The Bookkeeper interacts across multiple functions, including finance, human resources, and operations. A Week in the Life of a Bookkeeper The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the position. Please note that this list is not all-inclusive and may be amended to meet changing business needs.

  • Live out and be a positive advocate for Downtown Dog Lounge’s culture
  • Maintain the integrity of our accounting system, oversee customer invoicing, receivables, payables, inventory and payroll processing
  • Ensure all responsibilities are completed with accuracy and on time
  • Manage accounts receivable, billing and collections process to ensure timely cash flow
  • Perform accurate and timely accounting of business transactions in QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Ensure the accurate processing of semi-monthly payroll, while maintaining the utmost integrity and confidentiality of payroll and accounting information
  • Partner with Operations to calculate commissions and maintain internal and vendor reporting
  • Ensure accounting practices in compliance with professional standards
  • Complete month-end close process including reconciliation of cash and other balance sheet accounts, prepare and review financial statement package for management
  • Deliver accounting support to business partners within the organization including reporting, forecasting and transaction processing
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen processes, efficiency and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Perform other specialized accounting tasks as assigned

Must Haves The ideal Bookkeeper is an enthusiastic animal lover who must be able to provide a great customer experience and support the team in achieving the business's goals. Experience And Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and education
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with intercompany Accounting

  • Demonstrated ability to interact directly with vendors, customers and professionals of all levels
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience with financial systems and applications, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to various applications used in daily operations
