As a Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer at Apple, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our Silicon Technologies group, designing and manufacturing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processors, and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions.

As part of our Hardware Technology CAD team, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle key physical design challenges, developing innovative solutions and implementing flows for multiple projects and design teams. Your expertise will enable the creation of world-class CPU, GPU, Analog/Mixed Signal, and SOC designs, driving the development of future Apple products. You'll explore and enable new technology nodes, stdcells, and tools, collaborating with design teams and tool vendors to improve PPA (Power, Performance, Area) and design productivity.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Participating in cross-functional teams to address physical design challenges
• Developing innovative solutions in physical design and optimization
• Creating and supporting implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams
• Designing and maintaining custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff
• Collaborating with other teams, such as physical design verification, RC extraction, IR, and static timing analysis (STA)
• Working directly with EDA tool vendors to resolve tool issues and identify areas for improvement

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• Minimum: Knowledge of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages and a BS degree
• Preferred: Good understanding of VLSI/Physical Design basics, exposure to CAD tools, CAD flow, or PD methodology, and understanding of analysis involved in Physical Design (extraction, timing, noise, physical verification, EMIR)
