Front-End Software Engineer (Web Developer)

RouteSmart Technologies, a leader in vehicle route optimization software technology, is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer to join our development team in Melville, NY. This role will report directly to the Lead Software Engineer and will be responsible for designing, coding, and supporting multiple websites that feature both user-friendly design and clear navigation—from layout to functionality. A thorough understanding of RouteSmart products is essential to ensure accurate feature implementation. The ideal candidate will also provide valuable insight into how features are perceived from an end-user perspective, helping to deliver an optimal user experience. The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000–$110,000 per year. RouteSmart Technologies, Inc. has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the U.S., and base pay will vary based on experience. This is a hybrid role, candidate must be able to commute to office in Melville, NY or Columbia, MD. Candidates must reside within 50 miles and be available to work onsite several days per week. However, we will consider the right candidate for remote work if domiciled in one of the following states: Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, DC, Virginia, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Washington. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create site layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Write well written, testable, and efficient code by using software development best practices that comply with the specifications provided
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and fix errors in code
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases and consult other web designers to match visual design intent
  • Research new industry coding standards that can be used to improve the team’s ability to create secure, high-quality, high-performance applications
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
  • Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and ECMA Script standards
  • Deep expertise and hands-on experience creating Web Applications using one or more JavaScript frameworks, such as ReactJS and Material UI.
  • Understanding of web application security, session management, and code development best practices
  • Deep functional knowledge or hands-on experience with making calls to Web Services
  • Working knowledge of GIS and similar mapping services extremely useful

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field
  • Experience with React development using various components
  • 3+ years minimum experience as a UX designer and web developer/programmer preferred
