We are seeking a UI/UX Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to shape user experiences across a range of digital platforms, ensuring accessibility, usability, and compliance with federal digital standards. Our Digital Modernization Division is an information technology and management consulting department that offers integrated, strategic solutions to its public and private-sector clients. ICF has the expertise, agility, and commitment to design, build, and operate high-performance IT solutions to support all aspects of our client's business. You will collaborate with other members of an Agile product team to understand users and their needs so you can deliver the best solutions for the most important problems. You will work to put your users first. You will apply a human-centered design approach based on research to ensure that solutions meet the needs of users and our clients. Based on your experiences and interests, we may ask you as a technology professional to support growth-related activities, including (but not limited to) RFI, RFP, prototypes, and oral presentations.Team members are also expected to uphold and maintain appropriate certifications necessary for their practice expertise. Job Location: This is a fully remote position; however, the role is tied to the Washington, DC Metro area due to team requirements. Occasional in-person meetings may be required. An in-person interview will be required and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Washington, DC Metro Area to be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to discovering and developing UX solutions by participating in and leading ideation sessions, rapid testing, and concept validation
  • Design intuitive user interfaces and workflows based on user research, accessibility best practices, and client requirements
  • Develop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and business analysts, to translate requirements into user-centric designs
  • Conduct usability testing, analyze findings, and iterate designs to optimize the user experience
  • Work with product leadership to research, understand, and communicate user outcomes effectively
  • Ensure design consistency across platforms, aligning with agency brand standards and the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
  • Advocate for Section 508 compliance and accessibility throughout the design process
  • Support the creation of design system components and style guides for long-term use and scalability

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Web Design, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably within public sector or mission-oriented environments
  • 1+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Understanding of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility (Section 508, WCAG)
  • Experience collaborating with Agile/Scrum teams
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to federal contract requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • MUST RESIDE IN THE United States (U.S.) and the work MUST BE PERFORMED in the United States (U.S.), as this work is for a federal contract and laws do apply.

What we would like you to have:

  • Able to provide a portfolio or examples demonstrating your research/design process and deliverables.
  • Experience working with federal government agencies or digital services teams
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and the limitations/possibilities of front-end development
  • Experience conducting user interviews, journey mapping, or usability testing sessions

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
