CAD Technician - Civil 3D

Our client is a civil engineering and land surveying firm with expertise in subdivision and land development design consulting in support of clients undertaking various types and sizes of residential, commercial, and institutional development. In addition to private consultant services, also represents nine (9) municipalities and authorities throughout Delaware and Chester Counties. Started in 1973, they operated as a multi-generation family-owned company and is now an employee-owned partnership that maintains an excellent reputation for engineering expertise and honesty, which are tenets of the company to this day.

They have experience great growth and in search of a Civil3D CAD Technician/Civil Designer to join an established design team. The design team is responsible for the production and management of a variety of public and private sector projects, including municipal public works infrastructure and transportation improvements, as well as residential, commercial and institutional site development projects. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable civil design experience, to develop strong project management skills, and to become an integral part of an innovative engineering firm.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in designing components of projects meet local, state, and/or federal regulations.
  • Perform some research and complete technical design tasks as required and/or assigned, under the direction & supervision of a professional engineer.
  • Preparation of construction documents and plans using Civil 3D for public and/or private public works infrastructure projects (i.e., street, highway, drainage, water, and sanitary sewer improvements) from conceptual design to final design, under the direction & supervision of a professional engineer.
  • Establishing good communication and working relationships with team members & clients.
  • Responsive and results oriented individual that is willing to learn.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D in civil engineering field with a demonstrated proficiency in the layout, drafting and design with engineers oversight of sanitary sewer and/ water improvements, drainage, paving, grading, roadway.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D required.

  • Proficiency/knowledge of GIS is a plus but not required.
  • Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program; OR
  • 2 Years Experience with Courses at a technical or vocational school including engineering, design, and computer software; OR
  • 6 Years Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D in civil engineering field: OR
  • AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D Professional Certification.

  • Critical-thinking skills to help the engineers identify problems to avoid maximize productivity and efficiency and to keep tasks and projects under budget.
