[Remote] Software Engineer Intern - TikTok Search Architecture team - 2026 Summer (BS/MS)

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, seeking talented individuals for a Software Engineer Intern position in their Search Architecture team for Summer 2026. The internship offers hands-on experience in developing a full-stack search engine system while utilizing modern machine learning techniques to enhance user search experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build new features that touch hundreds of millions of people around the world
- Solve unique, large-scale, highly complex technical problems
- Optimize the search quality to provide TikTok's users the best search experience
- Combine your understanding of product objectives and take full advantage of modern machine learning, LLM, and information retrieval techniques to improve search quality and perception
- Build the core systems and algorithms development including query understanding, result ranking, system reliability, and etc
Skills
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026
- Experience with coding in Python, Java, Golang, C#, or C++
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Graduating December 2026 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship
- Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications
- High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities
