Provides Library circulation services; assists in locating and furnishing materials to patrons; explains Library services, activities, facilities, rules; assists in maintenance and processing of Library materials; assists with Library programs; and performs other assigned duties. Works under the direct supervision of the Circulation Supervisor.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the general supervision of the Library Circulation Supervisor. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.Provides circulation services such as checking in and out materials, processing new Library cards, calculating fees and fines, accepting donations, keeping accurate statistics, making suggestions for more efficient service to patrons, calling patrons who have overdue materials, etc. Provides directional assistance to patrons who are looking for Library materials. Assists patrons in use of technologies such as computers, Internet, copier, fax machine, telephones, reading machines, etc. Assists in coordinating programs within the Library and with other city departments and outside organizations such as school districts and community-based groups. Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering the phone, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, making arrangements for use of Library facilities, setting up tables and chairs for classes, light cleaning, dusting, arranging shelves, etc. Must quickly adapt to varying levels of activity and noise and present ability to prioritize and multi-task. Attendance is an essential function of the job. Exhibits the City of Harker Heights’ Core Values Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, License, and/or Work Experience: • Two years of high school education. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (A )Ability to place materials in order according to the Dewey Decimal System; ability to file and alphabetize. (B)Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment. (C)Ability to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing library services; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, organizations, schools and the general public; ability to determine the needs of patrons and to educate patrons in library practices.
