Bellevue Parks & Community Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Dance Instructor to teach specialized dance classes at the South Bellevue Community Center (SBCC). As a Dance Instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate primarily new and inexperienced youth dancers in a variety of dance styles, including hip-hop, jazz, ballet, and cheer.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary ($23.35 - $32.22 per hour)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a mature, knowledgeable, skilled, motivated, and dynamic individual who enjoys teaching dance to youth. As a Dance Instructor, you will be responsible for developing program curriculum, lesson plans, and teaching standards, as well as ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for program participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing program curriculum, lesson plans, and determining teaching standards
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and maintain and enforce safety standards
  • Provide safe and quality experiences to participants in all dance programs
  • Teach and instruct participants; interact with program participants and provide guidance
  • Determine participant skill level; adjust instruction as needed
  • Supervise classroom/activity; maintain and secure class rosters

Qualifications:

  • Adequate dance instruction experience (one year of experience teaching or leading groups preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED required; college-level course work preferred
  • Dance certifications preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide clear instructions
  • Ability to work various schedules, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
