[Remote] SOC Cyber Security Analyst I
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Meridian Cooperative is looking for a SOC Cyber Security Analyst I to join their growing Security Operations Center (SOC) team. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in defending networks and collaborating with security professionals while monitoring alerts and responding to cyber threats.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze network traffic, logs, and alerts to detect potential security threats
- Use advanced security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, and more) to investigate incidents
- Triage security events, assess severity, and escalate when needed
- Respond to client inquiries and provide technical support with a customer-first mindset
- Follow incident response procedures to contain and remediate threats quickly
- Correlate data from multiple systems to identify suspicious behavior
- Assist in identifying vulnerabilities and analyzing emerging threats
- Configure and troubleshoot security tools and monitoring systems
- Document findings, incidents, and remediation steps clearly and accurately
- Stay current with cybersecurity trends and continuously build your expertise
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT (internships count!)
- Familiarity with security technologies: firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, SIEM
- Basic understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, SSH, SMB, LDAP, FTP)
- Exposure to Windows and Linux environments
- Knowledge of security concepts like vulnerabilities, exploits, and attack patterns
- Experience or coursework using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, Splunk, or Elasticsearch
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to follow processes in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Curiosity and passion for learning about cybersecurity
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and stay organized

- Paid Time Off: Eligible to begin accrual from date of hire; accrual amount based on years of service. Beginning accrual rate equivalent to 22 days per year. 9 holidays which include the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve. Up to 240 hours of PTO can roll over to the following year.
